Maybe hated is the wrong word.
I loathed math growing up. I feared math growing up. I dreaded math growing up.

I nearly failed math growing up.

Now, I tutor and consult for:

• Research design and data analysis courses:
  • If people cannot understand the impacts of their research methodology, they will not be able to identify the appropriate data analyses.
  • If data analysis is taught using symbols and terminology rather than concepts and connections, then people will not be able to understand the impacts of their research methodology.
  • The “replication crisis” is a direct result of a demand to publish without a demand for precision and accuracy in understanding.
• Writing and critical thinking courses:
  • As a person with ADHD, I needed to learn how to:
    • organize my scattered thoughts when considering a specific topic
    • identify which thoughts were most useful or most distracting when discussing that topic
    • present the useful thoughts in a way that other people could both understand and critique
    • identify which critiques were constructive and which were not
    • edit my work so that I could improve myself
    • accept that nothing will every be perfect and we all work together to make it better.
• Psychology and psychology-related course:
  • I want to understand people, and have taken, taught, or tutored for nearly every counselling, biological, and anatomical course associated with undergraduate and graduate counselling and psychology degrees.
  • Note: Psychiatry involves specific coursework in medicine and chemistry that I have not yet taken; if you need assistance in these areas, then please contact me with enough information that we can decide if/how I can help.
